Our Initiatives

Operational practices include:

•  reducing energy and water consumption
• eliminating plastic straws
• eliminating individual plastics in guest rooms, from bath amenities to bottled water
• securing at least 25% of our electric power needs through renewable resources
• minimizing waste generation through reduction, reuse and recycling practices in our kitchens, including composting
• factoring environmental impacts into purchasing decisions
• buying food from organic and local vendors

Other practices: 

• working to responsibly manage the environmental and social impacts of our business, from social and cultural issues to health and safety issues, human rights, and more
• making it easier for guests to practice self-care as an intentional step toward maintaining and achieving well-being
• empowering our staff with opportunities to access education and self-improvement
• collaborating with community partners
• training all staff on our sustainability practices as relevant to their role
• promoting cultural preservation through our Celebrating the Arts programming, which connects guests to the leading authors of our time and offers intimate, one-of-a-kind live classical music performances
