The Hay-Adams Receives Coveted Sustainability Certification from Green Key Global

 

Washington, DC - February 2025 - The Hay-Adams is advancing its commitment to sustainability with certification from Green Key Global. 

The award-winning luxury hotel just steps from the White House has been awarded four keys. The certification is a result of The Hay-Adams amplifying its efforts to operate efficiently and responsibly. Physical operational practices include reducing energy and water consumption through efficiency and best practices, including a composting program; securing electric power through renewable resources; minimizing waste generation through reduction, reuse and recycling practices across the hotel; factoring environmental impacts into purchasing decisions; purchasing food from organic and local farms and vendors; and others.

Green Key Global is an industry certification program that specializes in sustainability for hotels and lodging. Earning its certification validates a hotel's sustainability focus and supports their continued evolution. By working with Green Key Global, The Hay-Adams has access to resources, tools, and education to continuously meet and exceed industry sustainability standards. This will enable the hotel to further reduce its environmental impact and provide its guests with an even more sustainable and eco-friendly experience.
