- Walter Isaacson, President and CEO of the Aspen Institute, Will Discuss his Latest Biography
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Friday, September 21, 2012, The Hay-Adams Author Series will welcome Walter Isaacson, President and CEO of the Aspen Institute, to discuss his latest biography, Steve Jobs, while dining with guests at The Top of the Hay, the Hotel’s elegant rooftop spaces overlooking the White House.
Isaacson, former chairman of CNN and managing editor of Time magazine, wrote Steve Jobs based on more than 40 interviews with Jobs as well as interviews with more than 100 of Jobs’ family members, friends, adversaries and colleagues to develop the intense account of his life. The biography offers a glimpse into the entrepreneur’s passion for perfection and influences on the rise of personal computers, phones, tablet computing and digital publishing, among other things. Jobs, who cooperated with Isaacson on the biography, asked that the author write the book without his approval or review, giving Isaacson full control over what was published.
Steve Jobs, published by Simon & Schuster, became an international best seller, breaking all records for sales of a biography. Author of Einstein: His Life and Universe, Benjamin Franklin: An American Life and Kissinger: A Biography, Isaacson was selected as one of the Time 100, the magazine’s list of the most influential people in the world this year.
Kay Enokido, President of The Hay-Adams, created the Author Series in 2005 to recognize the country’s greatest writers and to bring back a tradition started by John Hay and Henry Adams whose houses once sat at the site of the Hotel. Enokido will host the event, which will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with co-host Donald Graham, Chairman and CEO of The Washington Post Company.
Tickets are $85 and include a three-course meal, wine, tax and gratuity. The book will also be available to purchase. For tickets and more information, visit www.hayadams.com/author-series or call 202.220.4844.
