Room Types

White House View Rooms provide a direct and unobstructed view of the White House. These rooms feature French doors that open onto a small balcony and offer a choice of one king bed or two double beds.

St. John's Church View Rooms feature a scenic view of historic St. John's Church, known as “Church of the Presidents.” These deluxe rooms are available with either one king bed or two double beds, and some offer ornamental fireplaces.

Lafayette Park View Rooms feature a scenic view of Lafayette Park. These luxurious rooms are available with a choice of one king bed or two double beds. In the winter months, these rooms offer a view of the White House through the trees.

Interior View Rooms feature an interior or courtyard view and offer one queen-sized bed or two double beds.

Executive Studios feature a small sitting area with sofa and coffee table for working or relaxing. They face the quiet courtyard and feature one queen bed as well as a pull-out sofa for additional guests.

Suites

With 20 suites, ranging from 500 to 1,000 square feet, each has maintained its original history with decorative ceilings and ornamental fireplaces. With a choice of several spectacular, scenic views, each suite can be connected to a second bedroom if desired. Suite types include:

Federal Suite: This extraordinary one-bedroom suite features a separate living room and two full bathrooms. The expansive corner living room boasts a breathtaking, panoramic view of the White House, Lafayette Park and St. John's Church, and the luxuriously appointed master bedroom features French doors which open onto a small balcony with a White House view. The dramatic and spacious living room includes a large dining table, as well as a generous sitting area ideal for either meetings or social entertaining.

Presidential Suite: This distinguished and remarkable penthouse suite features a separate living room and one-and-a-half bathrooms. The beautiful living room overlooking the White House, Lafayette Park and St. John's Church includes a large dining table as well as a gas-lit corner fireplace. The master bedroom features a spectacular view of the White House.

Lafayette Park View Suite: These suites offer a separate living room and master bedroom with two bathrooms. The spacious and elegant living room overlooks Lafayette Park located in front of the White House and includes a large dining table, which is ideal for board meetings or social entertaining.

St. John's Church View Suite: These suites offer a separate living room and master bedroom with one bathroom. The living room features a sofa, coffee table and writing desk. Both master bedroom and living room face St. John's Church, and the oversized bathroom features double sinks, a separate shower stall and a soak-in tub.

White House or Lafayette Park View Junior Suites: These junior suites offer distinctive views and feature one oversized room with a king-sized bed and sitting area. The White House View Junior Suites, located on the higher floors, feature an unobstructed view of the White House year-round. While, the Lafayette Park View Junior Suites offer a view of the White House through the trees during the winter months.

Dining

As Washington, D.C.'s destination for power dining, The Lafayette Room offers superb contemporary American Cuisine and attentive service in a stately and elegant setting. With windows overlooking Lafayette Park and the White House, this sun-lit dining room is unique in Washington and is certain to complement any dining experience. The Lafayette is also one of Washington D.C.'s only restaurants to provide live entertainment daily. Breakfast is served during the week from 6:30-11:00 am; lunch 11:30-2:00 pm; dinner 5:30-10:00 pm. On the weekend, the restaurant is open for breakfast from 7:00-11:00 am and for lunch from 11:30-2:00 pm.

Off the Record Bar is Washington's place to be seen and not heard. Favored by locals for its creative dinner menu and exceptional wine selection, Off the Record provides a relaxed atmosphere for evening dining and entertainment. Open Sunday-Thursday, 11:30 am to midnight and on Friday-Saturday, 11:30 am to 12:30 am.

24 hour room service offers a choice of full meals and light snacks.

Restoration

The property closed in October 2001 and reopened in March 2002 following a $20 million renovation. The renovation was overseen by Interior Designer Thomas Pheasant and focused additional guestroom comforts, luxuries and advances in technology for a superb new presentation while maintaining the Hotel's designation as a member of National Trust Historic Hotels of America in the Nation's Capitol.
